Thanks to their fun, tasty and convenient form, CBD gummies are becoming an increasingly popular way to take CBD. But not all gummies are created equal, so it pays to do your research before you make your selection.
What are CBD gummies?
CBD gummies are an edible dietary supplement made with CBD – a non-psychoactive compound found in hemp.
As well as being available in a variety of appealing flavors, gummies are an easy and discreet way to take CBD at any time and place. They also come in a pre-prepared dose, so you know exactly how much you’re taking.
But how do you go about choosing the best ones?

Methodology: how we chose the best CBD gummies
We tested some of the most popular CBD gummies to find out for ourselves – assessing their performance, look and taste, and the overall ingredients.
We also examined the safety of the brands, ensuring they:
- had proof of third-party testing by an ISO 17025-compliant lab
- fully disclosed the source of their hemp
- passed tests for pesticides, heavy metals, and molds (according to the certificate of analysis (COA))
- contained no more than 0.3% THC according to the COA – and were ideally THC-free
We were a bit surprised to find some of the popular gummy brands that appeared to be hand made and came in odd shapes and flavors. Several had a strong “hemp” taste which we found unappealing and would struggle to order again. It is best to look for professionally made products that are molded at the manufacturing facility. This provides a controlled process so you have confidence they are made well.
However, ‘performance’ was an area we decided to delve into further.
Which are the best CBD gummies?
When it comes to performance, it’s critical that gummies contain 100% of the CBD they claim. That way, you can take the right dosage for your needs and tolerance levels, and gain all the expected benefits.
As such, we partnered with Coral Reef Labs to undertake a complex study. This involved analyzing the potency of the gummies, then comparing it to what was advertised on the label. And it revealed some surprising results. Even though these products were all within stated expiration states many of them failed.
NextEvo Naturals
NextEvo CBD Gummies, (Lot# WHD011-02 and Lot# WFD001-01), come in a variety of fruit flavors, with formulas available that focus on reducing stress or improving sleep. These gummies use revolutionary Smartsorb™ technology – which means they can start to be absorbed in just 10 minutes and also have better overall absorption when compared to oil-based formulations.
Our study with Coral Reef Labs revealed that NextEvo CBD Gummies contain an impressive 102–115% of the CBD claimed on the label. So you know exactly what you’re getting, and you can feel the full benefits.
Popular Brand A
Brand A offers full-spectrum, broad-spectrum, and isolate CBD gummies in various flavors. This allows you to select the type of CBD that suits your needs and preferences in the taste you prefer.
It’s worth noting that broad and full spectrum labeled products only contain trace amounts of other cannabinoids, so the benefits are unclear.
However, Brand A gummies contain between 97–118.3% of that claimed on the label. Which means you get what you’re paying for.
Which CBD gummies may have issues?
Unfortunately, many of the brands we tested failed to live up to their claims. Here, we’ve highlighted the gummies containing the lowest concentration of CBD compared to what’s indicated on the label.
Popular Brand B
Brand B CBD gummies, contain broad-spectrum CBD, offered in different formulas and flavors. But, according to our study with Coral Reef Labs, they contain only 60% of the CBD advertised on their label. A disappointingly low amount compared to their statements.
Brand C
Brand C gummies, come in broad and full spectrum varieties and are available in several flavors, with varieties targeted at better sleep and feeling calm. However, our tests revealed that the actual amount of CBD they contain varies from 62.4–82.4% of that claimed on the label. Far less than today’s consumer would expect.
Brand D
Brand D CBD Gummies, are targeted at the unique needs of women. However, whilst some of the ingredients are well-known for aiding women’s wellness, they unfortunately failed to pass our stringent tests for potency. In fact, their gummies only contain 74% of the CBD indicated on the label.
Brand E
Brand E offer a wide variety of CBD gummies, with several flavors and combinations to select from. But, although they contain 92% of the CBD claimed on their label (which far exceeds many other brands), we think anything less than 100% is misleading.
Summary
Whilst many well-respected CBD brands sell appealing CBD gummies, you’re not always getting what you pay for. And if the CBD levels aren’t as claimed, you don’t receive the full dosage or benefits.
We recommend paying attention to the research, and selecting gummies that remain true to their claims, so they deliver what’s been promised.
